Open-Plan Living

Open-plan living is becoming increasingly popular and gives home owners the opportunity to change the way in which they use their homes. As your family grows, changing the layout of your home can be as beneficial as an extension or even moving altogether. This can also be more cost effective and less of an upheaval.

You might want to open up your kitchen into the dining room or bring the lounge into the garden via Bi-Fold doors. Open plan can also be useful when keeping within Permitted Development Rights while extending your home. Your proposed extension may not be big enough in itself but will take on a whole new aspect when a wall is removed.

If you intend to widen an existing opening or remove sections of any load bearing or exterior wall you need to be sure that it is feasible and what measures need to be taken to make this possible. A Structural Engineer or Architectural Designer will be able to tell you if the removal of a wall is possible and what will be required to safely support the existing structure. A designer will also be able to maximise the possible potential of the existing layout.

When we specify bi-fold doors on any project we usually go for an aluminium type construction as these have less framing than Upvc which gives you more glass and are generally lighter.

A new Bi-fold product has come to our attention which has no interlocking hinges which means you can slide each door sash individually. This lets gives you more opening options as well as making the frame less bulky. We have a local supplier who can produce these doors at an affordable cost or you can follow the link below.
